I don't have a name yet for my hiking buddy. I'm open to suggestions.

Wolves like to howl at the moon; You could name her Luna!

Maybe Wolfie or Wolfette.

My first thought was Wolfie, but I like Bee's suggestion of Luna.
I'm going on another hike this weekend with some friends, maybe a brainstorming session on the peak will generate a name.

my son thinks "Baxter" would work
I am more partial to Cornholio or Beavis
My daughter thinks Wylie the Wolf has a good ring to it, and Zeus would be her intellectual pick

Thanks for all the name suggestions. After closer inspection of my hiking buddy, I found a tag on the back paw (foot). This is an official Beanie Baby toy of a husky named Nanook. I'm more partial to Luna or Wolfie as a name. I liked the name Zeus, but the facial expression doesn't fit. Zeus should have a fierce facial expression. Anyway, while I try to figure out a name, I was on the trail from the top of the Palm Springs tram towards San Jancito Peak this weekend. Took a lunch break at Wellman Divide and this is the best picture I took of Luna/Wolfie. ]

She is adorable! I, of course, am partial to the more feminine name of Luna

A very nice looking couple. What's her name? Chickette? Chicky-poo?

She is in the same predicament as "Luna" -- she is yet to bee named!

She is officially named (after all, she does not want to bee known as "Chick-on's Girlfriend") Her name is Chick-a (pronounced "chica", as in Spanish for "girl")

What a nice couple! Chick-on is certainly trying to impress Chica with a great view.

Here's Blackie. His job is to memorize the trail looking back so that we can find our way home. He's shy, hardly ever gets out because he lives in a cupboard at home - the cat thinks he's food. And this is the first good photo. Thanks, Steve.

Blackie is cute (of course -- all the buddies are!) Has he had much trail time??
Yes, Chick-on IS trying to impress with the great views! (we have been trying to order some custom-made snow shoes for him -- hopefully by next season!)

Several Trans-Sierra day hikes - he's been on the pack for most of 10 years...

You can thank Bri for that picture.
And I see Blackie's sporting some Freak Flag color, too.

First trip up the main trail. My hiking buddy is sitting on top of the sign post, with the trail to Outpost Camp in the background.
